About the Role:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a dedicated Casual Cashier for their Cornubia store to provide exceptional customer service at the point of sale. This role ensures a seamless shopping experience while accurately processing transactions according to company policies and eliminating any risk of errors or fraud.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver exceptional customer service in line with Dis-Chem standards.
• Build professional relationships with customers and handle inquiries efficiently.
• Report customer feedback, complaints, or compliments to management.
• Maintain customer turnover hourly rate and be aware of current sales and promotions.
• Ensure the safety of colleagues and customers at all times.
• Follow Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication principles.
• Handle cash flow responsibly, including all transactions, voids, and price changes with supervisor approval.
• Process purchases using all accepted payment methods, including cash, cards, vouchers, and loyalty programs.
• Ensure safe handling and secure storage of cash and other valuables.
• Process loyalty cards, including those of partner programs like Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, and eBucks.
• Scan and process all outgoing stock/items/scripts.
• Identify and report suspicious behaviour and adhere to all security procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• At least 6 months of cashier or till operations experience.
• Computer literate (MS Office).
• Strong numerical skills.
• Proficient in English (written and spoken).
• Basic customer service skills.
• Willingness to work retail hours.

• Knowledge of operating cash registers and maintaining cash drawers.
• Accuracy and attention to detail in all transactions.
• Strong problem-solving skills and accountability.
• Emotional intelligence and social awareness.
• Trustworthy, honest, and able to manage time effectively.
• Presentable and professional in appearance.
• Ability to analyse basic reports.

Advantageous:

• Knowledge of a third additional language.

Special Conditions:

• Must have reliable transport or reside close to the store.
• South African citizen with clear credit and criminal records.
• Available to work retail hours.
