Dischem Vacancies – Casual Sales Assistant

Job Description:
Dis-Chem Baby City is looking for a Casual Sales Assistant to join their Kenilworth Centre store. The primary role is to provide exceptional customer service while assisting customers, maintaining stock levels, processing payments, and upholding high merchandising standards.

Minimum Requirements:
Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Up to 6 months of retail experience
  • Minimum 1 year of work experience in retail

Advantageous:

  • Certification in Retail Business Management

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged stock, and expired stock to management
  • Assist with counting stock files and general stocktaking
  • Assist with loading and off-loading of stock as needed
  • Identify and report damaged and expired stock immediately to management
  • Flatten boxes after unpacking stock and take them to the designated area
  • Ensure full ranges of products are always on the shelves and neatly presented
  • Maintain stock on shelves to ensure it has not reached its sell-by date
  • Restock merchandise to ensure maximum sales
  • Ensure merchandise displays, labels, and pricing are always correct, and report all price discrepancies to management
  • Stay updated with new product knowledge to effectively assist customers
  • Handle merchandise carefully to prevent any losses
  • Build stable displays timely for promotions
  • Implement monthly promotions effectively to maximize sales
  • Ensure relevant posters and signage are put up in time for promotions
  • Place promotional tickets, price tickets, posters, etc., within the expected time frame
  • Remove promotional stock immediately after promotions end
  • Ensure accurate cash flow and follow correct cash handling procedures
  • Transact all purchases, receiving and processing all payments such as cash, cards, vouchers, coupons, and other acceptable payments
  • Scan and pay for all outgoing stock/items/scripts
  • Process all loyalty cards, including those of accelerated partners
  • Establish a professional relationship with customers and provide friendly, helpful, and courteous assistance and advice
  • Report customer compliments and complaints to management
  • Attend to all customer stock queries and ensure they are resolved
