Job Description

Geospatial Administrator

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled and technology-driven Geospatial Administrator to join our Enterprise Capabilities group. This role supports internal and external clients across our Environment, Transportation, and Water business lines in the Americas, managing and administering specialized GIS hosting environments. You will contribute to diverse projects, including infrastructure management, environmental permitting, energy development, water resources, and transportation systems.

This hybrid role requires three days per week in the office, with offices located in Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Durban.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Gather and review technical requirements for data collection, development standards, and quality assurance.
  • Design, deploy, and manage geospatial applications for AGOL/Portal, ArcGIS Field Maps, Survey123, Workforce, Dashboards, StoryMaps, AppStudio, and Power Automate Reporting.
  • Maintain applications using ArcGIS Server, Portal, and ArcGIS Online (AGOL).
  • Support mobile and web applications built with JavaScript, HTML5, JSON/GeoJSON, and Google Maps API.
  • Automate workflows using Python, Model Builder, Microsoft Power Automate, and other scripting tools.
  • Manage SDE geospatial databases on SQL Server.
  • Ensure data quality and adhere to defined standards.
  • Stay current with emerging GIS technologies.
  • Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and proactive problem-solving.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography, Environmental Science, Data Science, or related field.
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in Enterprise GIS, web systems development, programming, or administration.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ArcGIS Server, AGOL/Portal administration, and GIS web services.
  • Proficiency in SQL Server (queries, views, stored procedures).
  • Hands-on experience deploying geospatial mobile/web apps (e.g., Field Maps, Survey123, Dashboards).
  • Familiarity with AWS/Azure cloud infrastructure.
  • Development skills in JavaScript, Python, and SQL.
  • Knowledge of webhooks, automation, and reporting tools (SSRS, Power BI).
  • Experience with ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, or asset management systems.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multitasking environment.
