Job Overview
Cashbuild Vacancies is seeking a proactive and customer-oriented General Assistant to support daily store operations. This role is responsible for delivering excellent customer service, maintaining merchandising standards, ensuring accurate shelf pricing, and upholding housekeeping and safety standards within the assigned area.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum Grade 10 or NQF Level 3 with 1 year related work experience, or Grade 12 without experience
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant local language
- Valid South African ID or work permit
- Basic numerical skills and ability to perform accurate calculations
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure
Key Performance Areas
Customer Service
- Provide knowledgeable advice and assistance to customers regarding products and queries
- Address and help resolve customer complaints in a professional manner
- Create a welcoming and helpful shopping environment
Merchandising Standards
- Merchandise bulk stock safely according to the store layout plan
- Ensure your area of responsibility is fully stocked and aligned with approved planograms
- Replenish and organize stock promptly after receiving deliveries
Housekeeping
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized area free from obstacles
- Ensure customers can move safely and comfortably within your section
- Maintain accurate and clear shelf price labelling
- Complete required checklists, including canteen and restroom schedules, when assigned
Safety (OHSA) Compliance
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required protective gear
- Ensure racking and bulk stock are merchandised safely for customers and colleagues
- Report any safety hazards or discrepancies to the Store Manager
Manage Stock Loss
- Identify and report damaged or defective stock within your area to the Store Manager
