About the Role:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for an experienced Casual Cashier for their Zevenwacht Mall store. The role focuses on delivering exceptional customer service at the point of sale while ensuring accurate transaction processing and a secure, world-class shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide excellent customer service in line with Dis-Chem policies.
• Build professional relationships with customers and handle queries efficiently.
• Report customer compliments and complaints to the Frontline Supervisor or management.
• Maintain customer turnover hourly targets and stay updated on current promotions.
• Ensure the safety of colleagues and customers at all times.
• Apply Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication principles in all interactions.
• Manage cash flow responsibly, including handling line voids and price changes with supervisor approval.
• Process all purchases using cash, cards, vouchers, coupons, and other accepted payment methods.
• Handle loyalty cards, including partner programs such as Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, and eBucks.
• Secure cash in the drop safe according to SOPs and maintain confidential handling of daily takings.
• Scan and process all outgoing stock, items, and scripts.
• Be vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to management.
• Follow all store security procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• At least 6 months’ experience in cashier or till operations.
• Computer literate (MS Office).
• Strong numerical skills.
• Proficient in English (written and spoken).
• Basic customer service skills.
• Willing and able to work retail hours.

• Knowledge of cash register operations and maintaining cash drawers.
• Ability to process sales, refunds, and payments accurately.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Presentable and professional.
• Emotional intelligence and social awareness.
• Accountability, problem-solving, and time management skills.
• Trustworthy and honest.
• Ability to analyse basic reports.

Advantageous:

• Knowledge of a third additional language.

Special Conditions:

• Reliable transport or residence close to the store.
• South African citizen with clear credit and criminal records.
• Availability to work retail hours.
