Dischem Vacancies – Cosmetic Cashier

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking an experienced Cosmetic Cashier for our Ring Road store. As a Cosmetic Cashier, you will provide exceptional customer service at the point of sale while ensuring a world-class shopping experience. You will record customer transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system and help with the effective merchandising of Dis-Chem cosmetic and beauty products.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Essential:
    • Grade 12 / Matric
    • At least 6 months of cashier/till operations experience
    • Computer literate (MS Office)
    • Sound numerical skills
    • Strong command of the English language
    • Basic customer service skills
    • Willing and able to work retail hours

Job Responsibilities:

  • Customers at the cosmetic till point are your first priority, ensuring efficient transactions.
  • If there are no customers at the cosmetic till point, assist with merchandising of cosmetic products.
  • Serve customers and maintain a high standard of customer care and service.
  • Establish a professional relationship with customers and escalate unresolved complaints to the manager.
  • Process transactions, including cash, cards, vouchers, coupons, and other payments accepted by Dis-Chem.
  • Process all loyalty cards, including those of our accelerator partners (Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, and eBucks).
  • Manage accurate cash flow and ensure that all line voids and price changes are approved and signed by a supervisor.
  • Adhere to stock layout principles and ensure that cosmetic displays are faced up, stocked, and priced correctly.
  • Ensure that cash is placed in the drop safe according to Dis-Chem’s standard operating procedures.
  • Be alert, verify all payments, and report suspicious behavior to management.
  • Ensure outgoing stock/items are scanned and paid for.
  • Follow Dis-Chem’s security policies, health and safety rules, and uniform/personal appearance policy.

Competencies:

  • Essential:
    • In-depth knowledge of operating cash registers and maintaining cash drawers.
    • Knowledge of processing sales, refunds, and payments.
    • Strong accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Presentable with emotional intelligence and social awareness.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and accountability.
    • Ability to analyze basic reports and manage time effectively.
    • Trustworthy and honest.
  • Advantageous:
    • Knowledge of a third additional language.
