Supply Chain Planner – Pick n Pay Careers
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Supply Chain Planner to optimise stock flow across the value chain, ensuring availability, reducing waste, and improving working capital while supporting sales growth. This role integrates with cross-functional teams to translate business strategies into accurate forecasts, sales plans, and vendor orders.
Minimum Requirements:
- BCom Logistics or Degree in Quantitative Analytics, Operational Research, Industrial Engineering, or Applied Mathematics (RPL considered)
- 2 years’ experience in retail, supply chain, or planning; at least 1 year Pick n Pay-specific experience advantageous
- SQL, Power BI, and Access knowledge advantageous

Key Responsibilities:
Sales Planning & Forecasting
- Develop weekly and seasonal sales plans for assigned categories using standardised planning tools
- Integrate promotional, seasonal, and store-specific considerations into forecasts
- Analyse historical sales data and annualisation trends to identify trade opportunities
- Collaborate with Buyers and commercial teams to align forecasts with business objectives
- Plan new article launches and seasonal introductions according to the T-5 promotional process
Operational Execution
- Load forecast DIFs in SAP and maintain accurate replenishment parameters
- Monitor in-week sales demand and adjust forecasts to ensure stock availability
- Track KPIs such as sales, waste, working capital, and availability, taking corrective actions as needed
- Execute new article and seasonal launches in line with operational plans
- Manage DC stock holding, including bulk and import lines, to maintain target stock levels
Category Profitability
- Analyse category performance to support pricing, promotional strategies, and assortment planning
- Identify opportunities to improve gross profit using category levers and support strategic vendor buy-ins
- Work with commercial and store teams to optimise service counter and in-store department execution
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders including commercial, logistics, SET, and technical teams
- Collaborate with vendors to communicate forecasts, resolve supply issues, and improve strike rates
- Act as vendor champion during collaboration projects and centralisation initiatives

Value Chain & Cost Management
- Understand and influence value chain costs through accurate planning and operational execution
- Identify and escalate inefficient pack sizes, implement mixed lugs, and support vendor efficiency projects
- Execute operational plans to maximise DC margin and improve supply chain efficiencies
