About the Job
Protect and grow profitable market share within a store in accordance with the Store, Division, and Company strategy.
Requirements:
- Grade 12 with at least 3 years of retail management experience or 5 years of related retail management experience
- Well-developed business acumen
- Ability to work under pressure
- Computer literate (basic computer literacy)
- Strong leadership skills
- Strong administrative skills
- Own transport preferable with a valid driver’s license
- Must have own cell phone
- Sound knowledge of Health and Safety aspects in line with local (OHSA) or neighboring countries’ legislation
- Strong Human Resources Management skills
- Attention to detail
Key Performance Areas
Strategic Management
- Develop, implement, and manage a strategic plan for the store aligned with the Divisional strategy
Grow and Protect Market Share
- Grow transactions, sales, and market share as defined in the budget
- Achieve sales budgets and growth objectives
- Manage and promote customer loyalty programs and 3rd party credit
- Develop action plans to counter competitor entry in the market
- Ensure store business plans are implemented and updated
Customer Service
- Implement and monitor the Customer Service strategy
- Maintain effective Delivery Service per company policy
- Grow and maintain VIC and charge card client base
- Recommend range improvements to suit the market
Asset Control
- Manage and control shrinkage per policy
- Protect assets (cash, stock, and fixed assets)
- Manage debtors within the store
- Analyze security requirements and recommend changes
- Ensure physical security measures are maintained
Business Trade Licenses (Countries)
- Ensure all relevant trade licenses are up to date and renewed timeously
Human Resource Management
- Manage manpower requirements in line with Company and Division strategy
- Ensure succession planning and career pathing is in place
- Maintain open communication with the Employee Forum and staff
- Ensure training and development for the store
- Manage employee relations within the store
Maintaining Store Standards
- Conduct daily floor walks
- Implement agreed Action Plans (PIPs) where necessary
- Monitor adherence to Company compliance standards
- Maintain housekeeping standards
- Ensure merchandising policies and standards are followed
- Implement “ready for business” policies
- Maintain lighting, store, and racking in good condition
Stock Management
- Ensure stock is ordered and received per policy
- Clear damaged stock per policy
- Implement obsolete/slow-moving/excess stock action plans
Store Safety (OHSA) Standards
- Manage safety in line with local (OHSA) or neighboring countries’ legislation
- Complete all required checklists
- Appoint OHSA representatives per legal requirements
- Investigate, report, and manage OHSA incidents
Expense Management
- Manage the store to the Financial Model and benchmarks
- Maintain expenses in line with budget
Insurance Claims Administration
- Report incidents to the relevant insurer
- Liaise on claim particulars and validity
- Submit required documentation
