Job Description
Drive profitable market growth and protect market share within the store, in line with the store, divisional, and company strategy. Lead all store operations, ensuring high standards in customer service, stock management, safety, and staff performance.
Requirements
- Grade 12 with 3 years of retail management experience, or 5 years of related retail management experience
- Strong business acumen and leadership skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
- Basic computer literacy
- Strong administrative and human resources management skills
- Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation (OHSA or relevant local legislation)
- Own transport with a valid driver’s license preferred
- Own cell phone
- High attention to detail
Key Performance Areas
Strategic Management
- Develop and implement store strategic plans aligned with divisional initiatives
- Monitor performance against strategic goals and adjust plans as needed
Grow and Protect Market Share
- Achieve sales budgets and growth objectives
- Promote customer loyalty programs and third-party credit
- Develop action plans to protect the market from competitors
- Implement and update store business plans
Customer Service
- Implement and monitor customer service strategy
- Maintain effective delivery services and grow the VIC and charge card client base
- Recommend product range improvements to meet market needs
Asset Control
- Manage shrinkage and protect store assets (cash, stock, and fixed assets)
- Manage store debtors and recommend security enhancements
- Ensure physical security measures are in place and maintained
Business Trade Licenses
- Ensure all relevant trade licenses are current and renewed on time
Human Resource Management
- Manage staffing levels according to company strategy
- Implement succession planning and career development
- Maintain open communication with staff and employee forums
- Oversee training, development, and employee relations
Maintaining Store Standards
- Conduct daily floor walks and implement action plans where necessary
- Ensure compliance with company standards, merchandising policies, and housekeeping
- Maintain “Ready for Business” standards and store lighting, racking, and equipment
Stock Management
- Ensure stock is ordered, received, and cleared according to policy
- Manage damaged, slow-moving, obsolete, and excess stock as per policy
Store Safety (OHSA) Standards
- Ensure compliance with local OHSA or relevant legislation
- Complete required safety checklists and appoint OHSA representatives
- Investigate, report, and manage OHSA incidents
Expense Management
- Manage store expenses in line with the financial model and budget
Insurance Claims Administration
- Report and liaise with insurers regarding incidents and claims
- Submit all required documentation accurately and on time
Management of the CB Way
- Implement and maintain controls and disciplines as per the CB Way
