Purpose of the Job
As an Operations Controller at Value Logistics, you will oversee daily courier and logistics operations, ensuring timely vehicle departures, accurate freight handling, and professional service delivery. Your role includes tracking schedules, enforcing compliance, supervising parcel sorting and manifesting, and managing POD debriefs. Strong on-floor presence, proactive problem-solving, and adherence to claims procedures and client standards are critical. Daily reporting, freight monitoring, and fostering professionalism across teams are essential to operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and track all vehicle departures and arrivals to ensure on-time performance.
- Ensure freight is collected and lodged by designated logistics partners.
- Oversee courier checklists, including vehicle inspections, device checks, and POD verification before debrief.
- Maintain warehouse floor presence during sorting to guarantee accurate freight routing and manifesting.
- Verify all drivers hold a valid PRDP at all times.
- Uphold professional conduct aligned with company and client expectations.
- Ensure “freight on floor” and 1x1x1 reports are updated daily, with billing checked and finalized without exception.
- Compile, update, and submit operational statistics and reports to the Operations Manager.
- Manage non-conforming items per claims procedures, recommending corrective actions—all claims resolved within 48 hours.
- Escalate client issues or non-conformances promptly and handle freight per client-specific requests.
- During debriefing, ensure all PODs and collections are accounted for, initiating immediate investigations for missing PODs.
- Promote a culture of professionalism in all interactions with clients, teams, and branches.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- 2+ years of experience in courier and customer service.
- Knowledge of the freight/courier industry.
