Primary Job Purpose
The Specialist – Radio Implementation is responsible for supporting all areas of network implementation projects, particularly the deployment of new radio and transmission projects. This includes ensuring installations, equipment upgrades, and network performance meet high standards, aligning with customer demands.
Context
- MTN Network Implementation covers BTS, transmission, and infrastructure maintenance within the region.
- Network project implementation, integration, and testing must comply with ISO 14000 standards and vendor specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all radio and transmission vendors, project managers, and main contractors adhere to performance KPIs and contractual obligations.
- Conduct accurate site surveys and verify site plans and quotes.
- Maintain quality assurance standards based on specifications.
- Supervise subcontractors to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Oversee quality control and adherence to agreed radio and transmission standards before network handover.
- Address customer complaints related to network performance.
- Ensure projects meet MTN’s acceptance procedures, including commercial and financial acceptance.
- Keep the Network Information Management System updated.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working order.
- Assist with special projects as required.
Supervisory and Leadership Responsibilities
- Manage contractor performance to meet regional radio and transmission rollout targets.
- Monitor compliance with transmission installation policies and procedures.
- Ensure adherence to standards and specifications.
- Foster teamwork and motivate others.

- Engage with transmission and radio vendors, project managers, and leased line vendors to ensure smooth operations.
- Maintain positive relationships with suppliers and vendors.
Decision-Making and Authority
- Manage time and priorities effectively.
- Exercise discretion in situations where procedures do not apply.
- Ensure compliance with national procedures and specifications.
- Take necessary actions to maintain and repair equipment.
- Stop any non-compliant or unsafe activities.
- Approve or reject site plans, quotes, and completed projects.
- Accept or refuse leased line links from vendors.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Three-year degree/diploma in telecommunications.
- Proficiency in English.
Experience
- Minimum of three years in the telecommunications industry, specifically in radio and/or transmission implementation.
- Experience supervising civil, electrical, RF, telecom, and subcontractors.
- Previous work in a medium-sized organization.
Training
- Radio and Transmission systems.
- GSM technology.
