Job Description
- Develop and implement a multi-year training strategy aligned with business-driven L&D priorities and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Oversee governance of L&D frameworks and policies, ensuring quality assurance, compliance, and alignment with long-term organisational goals.
- Lead organisation-wide capability reviews to identify and mitigate workforce risks, ensuring readiness for business transformation.
- Provide leadership and oversight of L&D strategy, ensuring alignment with business transformation and future talent needs.
- Oversee organisation-wide capability planning by consolidating skills gap analyses into long-term workforce and succession strategies.
- Ensure learning initiatives support organisational transformation and future capability requirements.
- Partner with business leaders to address current and emerging capability gaps.
- Guide design and governance of leadership, technical, and soft skills programmes, ensuring consistent quality and impact.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning through blended learning, digital platforms, and coaching/mentoring frameworks.
- Oversee the Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring content relevance, accessibility, and user engagement.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, industry, and professional training requirements (e.g., aviation, safety, occupational health).
- Liaise with regulatory bodies, accreditation authorities, and internal compliance stakeholders to maintain valid and accredited programmes.
- Monitor and report on training compliance levels, proactively addressing gaps and risks.
- Standardise and document training practices to meet audit requirements.
- Deliver accurate monthly and quarterly training reports, including hours, completion rates, costs vs. budget, ROI, and impact metrics.
- Maintain 100% accuracy of training data and provide trend analysis to support workforce planning and skills development.
- Ensure compliance with statutory/regulatory training reporting requirements, including TETA submissions and aviation logs.
- Develop training dashboards for senior leadership highlighting compliance rates, skills gaps, and L&D effectiveness.
- Translate training data into actionable insights for strategic HR/OD plans.
- Establish training governance frameworks, policies, and systems that meet business and regulatory expectations.
- Implement monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to measure ROI, learning effectiveness, and compliance outcomes.
- Ensure training providers meet professional and ethical standards.
- Own and manage the training budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and ROI.
- Negotiate and manage vendor and provider relationships strategically.
- Champion learning innovation, including AI-driven learning, digital platforms, predictive analytics, and skills marketplaces.
- Position the organisation as a learning organisation, embedding continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
- Anticipate and prepare for future skills trends in digital, regulatory, and AI domains.
- Lead and develop a high-performing training team across L&D and regulatory portfolios.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to deliver integrated training solutions.
- Advise senior leadership on talent and compliance risks related to training gaps.
Job Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent (Essential).
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology, or related field (Essential).
- Honours degree in relevant field or Business Leadership (Essential).
- ETDP SETA accreditation (Advantageous).
- Master’s degree in relevant field or Business Leadership (Advantageous).
- 10–12 years’ relevant experience in a mid-sized organisation, including at least 5 years in aviation training (Essential).
- Minimum of 5 years managerial experience (Essential).
- Proven experience in developing and managing soft skills training across departments (Essential).
- Proven experience in managing aviation regulatory training (Essential).
- Excellent knowledge of CATs, CARs, SACAA regulations, and company policies (Essential).
- Knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures and educational/training techniques (Essential).
- Experience with aviation training systems (Essential).
