About the Role:
The Certified Aviation Tech (Avionics) is responsible for performing maintenance, inspections, fault diagnosis, and repairs on aircraft avionics systems to ensure airworthiness and regulatory compliance. This role requires adherence to safety standards and precise record-keeping in line with SACAA requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct line maintenance inspections and routine checks on aircraft avionics systems.
  • Perform fault finding, troubleshooting, and rectification of avionics system issues.
  • Carry out weekly service checks and thorough daily inspections of aircraft to identify potential defects.
  • Execute maintenance tasks to maintain aircraft airworthiness.
  • Follow established maintenance procedures, safety standards, and SACAA regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain health and safety compliance to prevent accidents, fires, and other incidents.
  • Ensure work areas, equipment, and tooling are safe and properly maintained before starting tasks.
  • Apply analytical thinking and troubleshooting techniques to identify root causes and implement solutions.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally to ensure workflow efficiency and timely task completion.
  • Record and sign off all maintenance activities in compliance with SACAA regulations.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Trade Test Certificate in Avionics-related fields (e.g., Avionician, Aircraft Instrument Mechanic, Aircraft Electrician, Aircraft Radio Technician) recognised by SACAA.
  • Licensed AME with SACAA WI, W2, W3 ratings.
  • B737-800 systems courses (essential); B737-8(MAX) systems course (advantageous).
  • Oxygen course (advantageous).
  • Minimum 5 years’ aviation maintenance experience, including line and SVM experience.
  • Previous experience with B737-800 avionics systems (essential); B737-8(MAX) avionics systems (advantageous).
  • On-the-job training (OJT) experience (advantageous).
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and overtime as required.
  • Availability for local and international travel at short notice.
  • Valid South African passport and driver’s licence.
  • Sound knowledge of technical aircraft publications, documentation (including SWPM), and Avionics schematic systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
