Purpose of the Job
The Sales Representative is responsible for identifying, recruiting, growing, and retaining key customers within the assigned region, including spaza shops, forecourts, and wholesalers. The role focuses on building strategic relationships, driving sales volume and margin growth, and managing customer accounts effectively, including debtor management, to support profitable business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Acquisition and Growth
- Identify and recruit new customers within the assigned region to achieve agreed monthly and quarterly acquisition targets
- Grow and retain the existing customer base to meet or exceed sales volume and margin growth objectives
- Build strong, long-term customer relationships through regular engagement and service excellence
Sales Execution and Customer Engagement
- Conduct regular customer calls as per required call cycles, including order-taking and introducing new product lines
- Deliver exceptional customer service by resolving queries within agreed turnaround times
- Capture, monitor, and report customer feedback to management to support continuous improvement
Credit Control and Account Management
- Manage customer credit to ensure debtor days remain within agreed limits
- Drive on-time payments and support effective debtor management within the customer portfolio
Strategy Execution and Reporting
- Execute business strategies, including marketing campaigns and promotional activities
- Track and report performance against campaign objectives and sales targets
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a sales role within the FMCG sector
- Proven track record as a successful sales representative
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Valid driver’s license with willingness to travel extensively
- Strong working knowledge of CRM systems, MS Office, and mobile sales tools
