Dischem Vacancies – Cashiers

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking experienced Cashiers to join our Willowbridge, Tygervalley store. As a Cashier, you will support customer service at the point of sale, ensuring a world-class shopping experience. Your role includes recording customer transactions accurately and adhering to Dis-Chem’s standard operating procedures to minimize the risk of fraud.

Minimum Requirements:

• Essential:
  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • At least 6 months of experience in cashier/till operations
  • Computer literacy (MS Office)
  • Strong numerical skills
  • Excellent command of the English language
  • Basic customer service skills
  • Willing and able to work retail hours

Job Responsibilities:

• Adhere to Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and establish a professional relationship with customers.
• Report customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management.
• Be aware of current sales and promotions to better serve customers.
• Manage cash flow, ensuring all money is kept securely in the till.
• Ensure all line voids and price changes are approved and signed off by the supervisor.
• Process all transactions, including cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons, and other forms of payment.
• Process loyalty cards, including those from our accelerator partners (e.g., Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply).
• Ensure that outgoing stock/items/scripts are scanned and paid for.
• Handle daily takings confidentially and only discuss with management.
• Report suspicious behavior to management and adhere to Dis-Chem’s security policies.

Competencies:

• Essential:
  • Strong knowledge of operating cash registers and maintaining cash drawers.
  • Knowledge of processing sales, refunds, and payments.
  • High accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Trustworthy and honest.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and social awareness.
  • Excellent time management skills.
• Advantageous:
  • Knowledge of a third additional language.

Special Conditions of Employment:

• Willingness to work retail hours.
• Reliable transport or reside in close proximity to the store.
• South African citizenship.
• Clear credit and criminal records.
