Job Description

  • Lead large, complex projects and processes with minimal oversight.
  • Drive systems engineering delivery across multiple initiatives, ensuring quality and on-time completion.
  • Allocate technical tasks, review and validate designs, proposed solutions, and documentation.
  • Lead deployment preparation, impact analysis, and release readiness.
  • Champion continuous improvement in engineering practices and technical workflows.
  • Provide systems sign-off on solutions and automations.
  • Ensure effective change management to support adoption of digital solutions.
  • Align delivered solutions with defined business outcomes and KPIs.
  • Apply systems thinking to manage interdependencies, impacts, and connections across the technology ecosystem.
  • Translate business and product requirements into clear, testable system and integration specifications.
  • Define and maintain end-to-end solution architectures, including interfaces, data flows, and integration patterns.
  • Design and deliver secure, scalable, and optimised APIs, integrations, and system components.
  • Engineer solutions for high performance, availability, resilience, and long-term scalability.
  • Define and manage non-functional requirements for digital solutions.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and performance tuning across systems.
  • Implement observability including logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards, and alerting to support operations.
  • Apply secure-by-design principles throughout the engineering lifecycle.
  • Maintain high-quality technical documentation, including architecture diagrams and interface specifications.
  • Enforce engineering standards, patterns, and best practices across digital solutions.
  • Ensure system designs support business continuity, resilience, failover, and recovery.
  • Act as the technical owner for gateway-based integrations, ensuring security, optimisation, and monitoring.
  • Provide technical leadership to internal teams and third-party vendors for payment gateway integrations.
  • Support rollout, validation, and enhancement of gateway protocols and features.
  • Establish testing strategies for unit, integration, system, and regression testing, including test automation.
  • Embed quality gates into CI/CD pipelines to ensure production readiness.
  • Maintain internal knowledge bases, support guides, and secure version control.
  • Support vulnerability remediation, compliance, and adherence to organisational policies and standards.
  • Identify and manage enterprise-level technology and platform risks, ensuring mitigation actions are executed.
  • Translate and present technical information to nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Manage vendor escalations and ensure deliverables meet standards.
  • Identify automation and digital optimisation opportunities, supporting experimentation and scalable solutions.
  • Mentor and grow Digital Solution Engineers and Graduates.
  • Act as the main technical escalation point for complex integrations and incidents.
  • Lead adoption of scalable, data-informed technologies and cross-functional alignment.
  • Promote responsible, sustainable, and resilient use of technology.
  • Encourage accountability, continuous improvement, and a culture of innovation and excellence.

Job Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent (Essential).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field (Essential).
  • Postgraduate qualification in IT, Computer Science, or related field (Advantageous).
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in IT systems and engineering.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale projects (Essential).
  • Experience with systems, integration, and automation (Essential).
  • Aviation industry experience (Advantageous).
