Join the Mr Price Group as an IT Security Specialist (Network) and play a key role in protecting our company’s digital infrastructure. Your expertise will be instrumental in maintaining security operations, detecting and responding to threats, and ensuring compliance with security standards. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and IT teams to implement robust security measures, safeguard sensitive data, and enhance our security framework.
Responsibilities
- Define and enforce security standards across IT systems, working closely with architects and system engineers.
- Monitor network activity to detect vulnerabilities and unauthorized access attempts.
- Design and configure security hardware and software solutions.
- Utilize security tools to detect and respond to network and endpoint intrusions.
- Develop and implement security enhancements aligned with the company’s security roadmap.
- Provide security training and mentorship to employees and junior team members.
- Conduct security assessments, internal scans, and ethical hacking exercises.
- Analyze existing systems and recommend security improvements.
- Prepare reports, maintain risk registers, and draft policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Participate in change advisory processes, research security trends, and ensure alignment with enterprise security goals.
- Implement automation solutions to enhance security efficiency.
Qualifications
Experience
- 3+ years in a security role and 5+ years in an infrastructure back-end support environment.
- Expertise in networking, including LAN/WAN management, firewalls, routers, switches, Wi-Fi, DNS, and segmentation.
- Experience in Security Operations Centre (SOC) monitoring and incident response.
- Strong knowledge of authentication methods, Windows, Apple, and Linux operating systems, data protection, cloud security, penetration testing, and identity and access management.
- Experience with security governance frameworks such as POPI, PCI, and data protection regulations.
- Knowledge of scripting, vulnerability management, and security frameworks (NIST, SANS).
Education & Certifications
A relevant IT degree and certifications in one or more of the following:
- CompTIA Security+
- CISSP
- GIAC
- Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer
- Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator
- AWS Engineer
- GSuite Engineer
- Certified Cisco or Meraki Engineer
