Introduction
Accurately control and process financial information, prepare financial reports, and conduct analysis to support business processes related to investment accounting. Manage and guide a team of accountants to ensure accuracy and efficiency in financial reporting.
Role Purpose
Ensure precise financial control, reporting, and investment accounting processes while leading a team of accountants. Provide guidance, review work, and contribute to financial operations excellence.
Requirements
- Degree in Financial Management or Accounting
- Completed Articles / Traineeship
- CA / CFA / ACCA / CIMA (advantageous)
- 7–10 years of experience in accounting or investments
- 3–5 years of management experience
- 3 years of insurance industry experience
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee accounting and reporting for investment assets of Guardrisk Insurance, Guardrisk Life, and Guardrisk Microinsurance.
- Lead a team of accountants, providing support, training, and skills transfer.
- Ensure accurate and timely investment transaction processing and reporting in the general ledger.
- Review and authorize investment instructions per company policies.
- Monitor compliance with investment mandates and address discrepancies.
- Allocate investment returns to cell clients and portfolios across licenses.
- Compile and review monthly, quarterly, and year-end reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Support investment accountants, portfolio managers, and actuarial teams with investment-related queries.
- Prepare regulatory reports (e.g., Prudential Authority, SARB) and board committee submissions.
- Assist with ad-hoc regulatory or management reporting requests.
- Improve financial systems, processes, and controls.
- Prepare audit documentation and resolve audit queries on time.
- Assist in annual budget preparation and monitor financial performance.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
- Identify and mitigate operational and financial risks.
- Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Enhance client service through process improvements.
- Drive change initiatives and promote innovation.
- Implement financial risk management strategies and policies.
