General Assistant – Cashbuild Vacancies

Job Description
Provide excellent customer service in-store, ensuring customers receive assistance and guidance on products and queries. Responsible for merchandising stock, accurate shelf price labelling, and maintaining cleanliness and order in the assigned area.

Requirements

  • Minimum Grade 10 or NQF 3 with 1 year of relevant work experience, or Grade 12 without work experience
  • Effective communication in English and the primary local language
  • Valid South African ID or work permit
  • Ability to perform basic calculations accurately
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure

Key Performance Areas

Customer Service

  • Assist customers in selecting products and answer queries
  • Resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally

Merchandising Standards

  • Merchandised bulk stock safely according to store layout and planograms
  • Ensure your area of responsibility is fully stocked and organized

Housekeeping

  • Maintain clear, safe aisles for customers
  • Merchandised stock immediately upon receipt
  • Ensure accurate shelf price labelling in your area
  • Complete daily checklists for canteen and toilet/shower schedules

Safety (OHSA) Compliance

  • Adhere to safety standards, including use of protective gear
  • Ensure safe merchandising of stock for customers and colleagues
  • Report safety or stock discrepancies to the Store Manager

Stock Loss Management

  • Report damaged stock promptly to the Store Manager
