About the Role
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a reliable and experienced Cashier to join the team on a fixed-term contract. The role focuses on delivering excellent customer service at the point of sale while ensuring accurate transaction processing in line with company policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will contribute to a seamless shopping experience while maintaining strict control over cash handling and fraud prevention.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Minimum 6 months’ experience in cashier or till operations
- Computer literate (MS Office)
- Strong numerical skills
- Good command of the English language
- Basic customer service skills
- Willing and able to work retail hours
Key Responsibilities
- Follow company customer service policies and procedures at all times
- Build professional relationships with customers
- Report customer feedback, complaints, and compliments to management
- Maintain required customer transaction rates
- Stay informed about current promotions and sales
- Ensure a safe environment for customers and colleagues
- Apply company communication standards consistently
- Manage and control cash flow accurately
- Ensure all voids and price changes are properly authorised
- Process returns and exchanges in line with company guidelines
- Handle all transactions including cash, cards, vouchers, and other payment methods
- Process loyalty programs and partner rewards systems
- Secure cash according to standard operating procedures
- Protect access to system codes and passwords
- Ensure all items are scanned and paid for before leaving the point of sale
- Safeguard all cash within the till at all times
- Handle daily takings confidentially
- Identify and report suspicious activities
- Assist customers with product-related queries
- Adhere strictly to company security procedures
