Senior Manager Data Engineer – Deka Minas
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute a long-term strategy for leveraging data and analytics as a business enabler and competitive differentiator.
- Own the development and delivery of critical components of the organization’s data management system.
- Translate data strategy into actionable architecture, defining models, rules, and governance standards.
- Lead digital product/service design by gathering cross-functional input to build scalable systems that enhance the brand.
- Manage a multidisciplinary team to drive innovation and continuous improvement across operations.
- Communicate strategic vision, aligning team actions with organizational goals to achieve exceptional outcomes.
- Oversee performance management within the function, setting objectives for direct reports and ensuring accountability.
- Manage a portfolio of major projects in alignment with overall strategic priorities.
- Engage and influence top-level stakeholders, addressing their needs through structured communication and collaboration.
SKILLS
- Expertise in enterprise project management and application monitoring using advanced data tools.
- Recognized authority in data engineering, with proficiency in Python, PySpark, Spark, Databricks, SQL, and SAS.
- Advanced ability to implement, configure, and optimize IT systems while ensuring seamless integration.
- Deep knowledge of data acquisition, organization, and processing to meet business objectives.
- Strong policy interpretation and implementation skills, aligning procedures with strategic goals.
- Capability to extract insights from large, complex datasets.
EDUCATION
- Grade 12/SAQA Accredited Equivalent (Essential).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Sciences, Informatics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or Data Mining (Essential).
- Master’s Degree in related fields (Advantageous).
EXPERIENCE
- 10+ years of professional experience (Essential).
- 7+ years in data engineering, analytics, data science, or computer science (Essential).
- Experience in Financial Services/Short-Term Insurance (Advantageous).
- 5+ years leading and managing teams (Essential).
