Job Description
AECOM is looking for an experienced Data Centre Lead – MEA to drive our data center business across key markets, including KSA, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, and South Africa. This role combines technical delivery (70%) with business growth (30%), requiring you to work from South Africa with travel to the Middle East, Europe, and industry events.
You will lead multidisciplinary teams on high-profile hyperscale data center projects, managing all stages—from site due diligence and master planning to detailed design, construction documentation, and administration. As a client-facing leader, you will oversee architecture, engineering, and design while growing AECOM’s market footprint.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end data center projects (architecture, civil, structural, MEP, security, fire protection) ensuring quality, budget, and schedule adherence.
- Build strong client relationships and develop technical/financial proposals.
- Oversee design reviews, localization, and scope change management.
- Lead client meetings and stakeholder engagements.
- Expand AECOM’s data center team, fostering collaboration and ownership.
- Proactively resolve challenges and manage contracts effectively.
- Drive MEA market strategy, leveraging AECOM’s global capabilities.
- Strengthen relationships with senior data center leaders worldwide.
- Partner with regional and global teams to enhance service delivery.
- Deliver presentations and client pitches with impact.
- Travel as needed for projects, clients, and team support.
- Achieve KPIs focused on bookings, revenue, margin, and quality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 12+ years of experience in the Built Environment or data center sector.
- Professional registration with ECSA (advantageous).
