SENIOR FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT – SAIPA / SAICA – SOMERSET WEST, CPT
A senior-level opportunity is available for an experienced Financial Accountant to take on a pivotal role within a Group Finance Division. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently while effectively managing their workload.
This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy of financial data, supporting management with reliable reporting, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards and internal processes. It combines core accounting, reporting, compliance oversight, and process improvement, with involvement in cross-functional projects.
Key Responsibilities
General Ledger & Reporting
- Oversee ledger accuracy, prepare and review reconciliations, and process journal entries.
- Deliver clear and concise monthly financial reports to stakeholders.
Controls & Compliance
- Review creditor, debtor, and bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
- Identify discrepancies and implement improvements to enhance financial controls.
Accounts Receivable Oversight
- Monitor debtor age analyses and produce regular reports.
- Manage credit insurance processes to mitigate financial risk.
Special Projects
- Assist with seasonal reconciliations, audits, and payment processes.
- Ensure compliance and accuracy in all project-based financial activities.
Cashflow & Forex
- Manage cashflow forecasting, planning, and foreign currency transactions.
- Oversee related contracts and authorize payments as required.
Requirements
- Degree in Accounting or Finance with 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Completed SAIPA or SAICA articles (advantageous).
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, standards, and procedures.
- Exceptional accuracy, organisational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with Sage 300 or similar ERP/accounting systems.
