Actuarial Assistant – Hire Resolve
We are seeking a driven and skilled actuarial professional to join our client’s team as an Actuarial Assistant, focusing on reserving within the non-life insurance sector. The successful candidate will support financial reporting, regulatory submissions, planning processes, and data integrity initiatives, gaining valuable exposure to actuarial disciplines and regulatory frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Calculate and validate reserves in line with IFRS17 and SAM reporting requirements for quarterly and annual reporting.
- Provide actuarial input for financial reporting and forecasting, ensuring accurate delivery of key reserving metrics.
- Contribute to financial planning by developing reserving-based projections and assumptions.
- Collaborate with finance teams, auditors, and regulators to address reserving queries and support audits.
- Prepare reserve reports and assist in regulatory submissions (e.g., SAM QRTs, FSCA Conduct of Business Returns).
- Improve data quality management processes for actuarial inputs and outputs.
- Support the development and enhancement of actuarial models, tools, and reporting capabilities.
Requirements
- Degree in Actuarial Science or equivalent.
- Completion of A1 and A2 Technical exams (ASSA) or equivalent IFoA stage.
- 2-3 years of experience in non-life insurance, preferably in reserving or technical reporting.
- Strong knowledge of reserving techniques, actuarial modelling, and valuation principles in short-term insurance.
- Familiarity with SAM regulations and IFRS17 framework.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.
- Proven ability to explain complex actuarial concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Advanced MS Excel skills; knowledge of SQL, Power BI, or ResQ is a plus.
- Accountable and deadline-driven, with a commitment to high-quality work.
