Purpose of the Job
Perform maintenance and repair services on commercial vehicles as per the Value Logistics job card, ensuring high standards of quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct visual inspections and on-board diagnostics during pre-diagnosis.
- Review workshop job cards for accuracy and clarity.
- Adhere to flat rates for repairs.
- Respond to breakdowns during and after office hours.
- Sign off job cards upon completion.
- Record all parts used, including engine oils, on the job card.
- Prepare operating equipment and gather necessary parts for servicing.
- Carry out maintenance according to manufacturer specifications and schedules.
- Perform visual inspections, calibration, and adjustments.
- Identify deviations, irregularities, and unusual wear, reporting findings to the Workshop Foreman.
- Reset maintenance systems following internal procedures.
- Return dismantled parts for reconditioning where possible.
- Inspect and replace parts as needed with new or reconditioned components.
- Document work performed and return old/unusable parts.
- Evaluate vehicle conditions against standard production configurations.
- Conduct final checks using testing equipment to confirm roadworthiness.
- Maintain professional conduct and assist in operational tasks as required.
- Follow company dress code and housekeeping standards.
- Uphold Health and Safety regulations.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Trade-tested as a commercial vehicle Diesel Technician.
Skills Required
- Apply appropriate techniques to present a professional work image.
- Interpret customer usage patterns effectively.
- Understand and implement basic business principles in the work environment.
- Communicate efficiently with customers regarding repairs and services.
- Identify and manage hazards with established guidance.
- Follow Health and Safety protocols under supervision.
