This pivotal role offers the opportunity to shape policy, strengthen financial stability, and drive innovation across insurance, financial market infrastructures (FMIs), and cross-sectoral institutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee market and counterparty credit risk supervision for key financial sectors.
- Develop and enhance regulatory frameworks, risk models, and supervisory tools.
- Collaborate with policy teams, supervisory units, and external stakeholders on technical risk initiatives.
- Drive strategic projects, including derivatives regulation, margin requirements, and investment risk analysis.
- Mentor and develop a high-performing team of market risk professionals.
Requirements:
- Post-graduate degree (NQF Level 8+) in Finance, Economics, Financial Engineering, Mathematics, Insurance, or a related field.
- 8–10 years of experience in financial services or regulation, with expertise in market risk, investment risk, or counterparty credit risk.
- Minimum 2 years of experience leading technical teams.
- Strong understanding of insurance/FMI regulations, derivatives, risk modeling, and frameworks (e.g., SAM, IOSCO, IAIS, FMA).
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
Advantageous Qualifications:
- FRM, CFA, CQF, or MBA.
- Experience in model validation, market risk analytics, or quantitative supervision tools.
- Track record in regulatory innovation and stakeholder management.
