Job Description
Truworths is seeking a Technical Sample Room Manager to lead a skilled team of patternmakers, cutters, sewing machinists, graders, and marker makers. The role ensures technical accuracy, quality, and efficiency in all sample production, meeting critical garment deadlines and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Knowledge

Ensure internal processes and quality standards align with Retail Division requirements

Collaborate with Merchandise and Production teams to optimize garment cost and production methods

Create, maintain, and enforce construction standards for all garments

Manage and maintain the Block Library

Ensure all technical information for garment production is accurate and resolve any issues

Implement systems and procedures, providing training and support to all team members
Systems & Processes

Manage the team efficiently to achieve budgeted outputs

Implement corrective action plans and revise processes when necessary
-
Plan workflow in collaboration with Merchandise and Production teams to meet deadlines

Accurately record sample briefs and approvals (Fit or PP) from the Merchandising Team
-
Demonstrate understanding of the merchandise-related system, Sync, and update allocated tasks timely

Ensure machinery and equipment are maintained and operational
Qualifications and Experience

Diploma in Clothing Design or Pattern Making

Proficient in Pattern Technology (Gerber/Lectra), Grading, and Marker Making
-
Strong Excel skills for reporting

5–8 years’ experience in a similar technical or sample room management role

Extensive knowledge of garment construction across multiple product types

Understanding of garment manufacturing, finishing processes, and fabric behavior
