Purpose of the Job
The Site Controller represents Value Logistics on site by managing fleet operations, controlling costs, and ensuring efficient delivery planning. The role is responsible for maintaining high service levels through effective fleet management, route planning, staff supervision, and operational control.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle and Fleet Management

Ensure vehicles are serviced, clean, and maintained in good working condition

Facilitate the hiring of ad hoc and replacement vehicles when required
-
Conduct daily vehicle tracking and monitoring
-
Manage and control vehicle workshop and maintenance costs
Debriefing and POD Control

Monitor operational statistics and ensure PODs meet Value Logistics and client standards
-
Ensure all driver debriefing forms are completed and accounted for
-
Manage POD returns and resolve customer POD-related queries
-
Analyse trip sheets on vehicle arrivals and validate movement reports
Administration and Reporting

Compile and submit site and operational reports
-
Manage breakdown records and related documentation
-
Control wages through accurate recording of staff working hours
-
Schedule staff and vehicles to ensure optimal productivity

Monitor productivity of both fleet and staff against agreed targets
Accident and Compliance Management

Complete all accident and incident documentation in line with Value Logistics procedures
-
Schedule regular driver training sessions with DTA to reduce damages and incidents
-
Ensure drivers’ PRDP renewals are completed on time to avoid non-compliance
-
Manage driver fines as requested by line management and identify recurring trends
Planning, Dispatch, and Route Management

Plan and dispatch all local loads departing from site
-
Oversee delivery planning and staff scheduling to maximise load utilisation and productivity
-
Receive and dispatch stock in line with operational requirements
-
Manage route planning including vehicle scheduling, driver allocation, and delivery sequencing
Daily Operations
-
Maintain accurate filing of all reports and operational queries
-
Manage breakdowns and claims efficiently
-
Compile daily operations and dispatch reports in line with client requirements
-
Maintain up-to-date driver and vehicle files
-
Prepare weekly wages and weekly reports covering kilometres, fuel, and wages
-
Control vehicle checklists and daily operational statistics
-
Manage EDC fuel control processes
-
Coordinate ad hoc and replacement vehicle hires
-
Receive stock from the client factory and supervise on-site staff
Minimum Requirements
-
Grade 12 (Matric)
-
2–3 years’ experience in a logistics environment
Skills Requirements

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
-
Strong planning and organisational skills
-
Fleet supervision experience

Staff supervision and leadership skills
