Dispensary Manager – Clicks Group

Purpose
To ensure the efficient and compliant operation of the dispensary by leading and directing the pharmacy team to deliver high standards of pharmaceutical care, service excellence, and sustainable sales performance, thereby strengthening the brand’s competitive advantage.

Job Objectives

  • Deliver high standards of pharmaceutical care through accurate, safe dispensing, including generic substitution and professional patient counselling in line with Good Pharmacy Practice and SAPC regulations.

  • Manage and control all dispensary operations, including stock management, shrinkage control, housekeeping, and administration in accordance with company standards and legal requirements.

  • Ensure the financial viability of the dispensary through effective expense management, achievement of core dispensary and clinic targets, and proactive corrective action where required.

  • Lead, develop, and motivate pharmacy employees, including learners and interns, through effective recruitment, coaching, and ongoing development to meet current and future business needs.

  • Ensure effective staff scheduling in line with labour policies and models, including accurate time, attendance, and employee record management.

  • Drive customer service initiatives that deliver an exceptional dispensary experience, enhance customer loyalty, and achieve club card participation targets.

  • Ensure strong integration and collaboration between the dispensary, clinic, and healthcare aisles to deliver a comprehensive healthcare offering to customers.

  • Live and promote the company values to support the Group’s vision of being the first-choice health and beauty retailer.

  • Foster cohesion and alignment between store operations, pharmacy, and clinic teams to drive consistency and performance.

  • Build a high-performing culture that delivers employee engagement, customer satisfaction, and shareholder value.

Minimum Requirements

Experience

  • Essential: Minimum of 3 years’ experience post community service year.

  • Essential: At least 1 year of people management experience.

  • Essential: Registered as a Responsible Pharmacist with the SAPC.

  • Desirable: Retail pharmacy experience.

  • Desirable: Experience using Unisolv.

Education

  • Essential: Registered Pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).

Knowledge

  • SAPC regulations and relevant pharmaceutical legislation.

  • Ethical pharmacy practice and compliance standards.

  • Stock, cost, risk, and compliance management procedures.

  • Patient care, professional counselling, and customer service excellence.

  • Labour legislation and employee relations practices.

  • Financial management principles and controls.

  • Competency-based interviewing techniques.

Skills

  • Strong leadership, managerial, coaching, and tutorship skills.

  • Results-driven with a focus on targets and performance.

  • Effective planning, organising, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong customer and patient care orientation.
