4. Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the implementation of safety, health, environment, and quality (SHEQ) programs for Peakers Operations.
- Ensure compliance with all SHEQ guidelines, procedures, and regulations, including the OHS Act and NEMA.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards and review safety, hygiene, and critical task procedures.
- Assess hazardous chemical information and recommend improvements to personnel safety protocols.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct safety inductions for departmental staff, visitors, and contractors, maintaining accurate records.
- Implement and oversee contractor management protocols within GR02.
- Interpret and apply group rules and standards to Peakers Operations.
- Distribute HSE bulletins and update communication boards regularly.
- Organize safety meetings, toolbox talks, Worker Representative Teams, and departmental committees.
- Conduct regular SHEQ inspections and audits to ensure system compliance.
- Manage Emergency Response Procedures and crisis management team coordination.
- Assist in implementing new SHEQ-related legislation and company standards, including ENGIE requirements.
- Verify timely investigation and reporting of all SHEQ incidents.
- Perform weekly and monthly reporting, inputting data into the Company Management Information System.
- Coordinate environmental performance in line with environmental impact assessments.
- Support ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification maintenance.
- Review and advise on the Environmental Management Program (EMPr) and related procedures.
- Conduct environmental audits per ISO 14001:2015 requirements.
- Manage all licensing and regulatory compliance for Peakers Operations.
- Maintain ENGIE’s One Safety Culture and One Safety Tool training and reporting.
Health & Safety:
- The role operates in a controlled hazardous environment with medium-risk tasks, including Temporary risks like falls or ergonomic hazards.
Exposure to Risks:
- Traffic/automobile accidents and ergonomic risks.
- Job-specific risks during inspections and daily tasks.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
- Hard hat, ear protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, cotton workwear, and gloves.
Health Protection Equipment (HPE):
- Ergonomic office equipment.
Reporting Structure:
- Directly reports to the SHEQ Manager with functional reporting to the EXCO team.
Communication & Relationships:
- Internal: Peakers Operations staff and contractors.
- External: Project company management and regulatory bodies.
Decision-Making Authority:
- Operates within approved budgets and company policies.
- Monitors and reports HSE performance, making improvement recommendations under SHEQ Manager guidance.
Qualifications & Experience:
Qualifications:
- Relevant SHEQ/Safety Management or Environmental Management qualification.
- Demonstrated competence through education and training.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years in large power plant operations, with at least 3 years as a Safety Officer.
- Experience with safe systems of work and computerized maintenance management systems.
- Knowledge of engineering principles, budget control, and SHEQ legislation.
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards and industrial occupational hygiene.
