Senior Scientist at Enaex
Job Purpose
To develop and implement innovative, value-adding scientific practices and solutions that address unique challenges, enhance product quality, resolve customer issues, and uphold Enaex’s industry reputation.
Departmental & Operational Planning
- Contribute to strategic departmental planning by developing annual operational plans, including key performance metrics, and securing approvals.
- Track departmental performance, analyze progress, identify risks, and submit quarterly reports.
- Ensure compliance with local and corporate regulations.
- Promote ethical practices by monitoring and enforcing compliance standards.
Policy & Procedure Management
- Oversee business process optimization, compliance monitoring, and corrective actions.
- Develop and implement policies aligned with industry regulations and best practices.
- Ensure adherence to departmental procedures and mitigate deviations.
- Optimize software and systems for improved efficiency and compliance.
- Monitor regulatory updates and adjust policies accordingly.
Technical Leadership
- Conduct advanced laboratory testing, quality management, and formulation, ensuring accurate reporting and technical documentation.
- Support technical sales by developing analytical methods, evaluating materials, and recommending specifications.
Key Activities
- Maintain laboratory expertise through research, testing, and compliance with intellectual property guidelines.
- Lead R&D projects to enhance efficiency and product innovation.
- Provide technical client support, troubleshooting issues, and delivering solutions.
- Ensure product compliance through SDS management, certifications, and database maintenance.
Financial & Budget Oversight
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, tracking expenditures and optimizing financial performance.
Risk Management
- Assess departmental risks, develop mitigation frameworks, and implement security measures.
Safety, Health, & Environment (SHE) Compliance
- Enforce SHE standards through training, monitoring, and prompt resolution of non-compliance.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Foster internal and external stakeholder relationships to support business objectives.
- Represent Enaex in industry initiatives and manage service provider performance.
People Management
- Oversee recruitment, resourcing, performance management, and employee development.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education:
- Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent
- BSc Honours (Chemistry/Chemical Engineering) or similar
- MSc (Chemistry/Chemical Engineering) preferred
- Experience:
- 5-7 years in explosives/mining laboratory environments
- 5+ years in R&D, quality testing, and management
