About the Program
Rand Water is seeking three experienced Principal Civil Engineering Assistants to provide technical support and expertise in civil engineering quality assurance. The role involves reviewing and verifying engineering documents, conducting inspections and audits, identifying and resolving technical issues, assisting in developing quality control procedures, and liaising with project teams and regulatory bodies.
Minimum Requirements
- N5–N6 / National Diploma in Civil Engineering
- 5 to 10 years’ experience in QA/QC or construction supervision and monitoring
- Knowledge of South African engineering standards and regulations (e.g., SANS, API)
- Familiarity with QA/QC procedures and quality management systems
- Project management experience (advantageous)
- Registration with ECSA (advantageous)
Primary Duties
Quality Assurance Inspections & Audits
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with specifications and standards
- Review construction methods, materials, and workmanship
Document Review & Verification
- Check engineering plans, drawings, and documents for accuracy and compliance
- Verify that changes are properly approved and documented
Non-Conformity Management
- Identify and report defects or non-conformities
- Coordinate corrective actions with project teams
QA Procedure Development
- Assist in creating and updating QA procedures and checklists
- Ensure procedures align with industry standards and regulations
Technical Support
- Provide civil engineering expertise to project teams
- Offer guidance on QA-related matters
Knowledge
- Civil engineering principles and practices
- Quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes
- Relevant South African standards and regulations (e.g., SANS, API)
