Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a professional and dependable Pharmacist Assistant to support the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical care. The role is responsible for assisting with patients’ medicine-related needs, ensuring accurate dispensing support, and maintaining compliance with all professional and legislative requirements.
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 / Matric

Basic Pharmacist Assistance qualification
-
Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)

Working experience on Unisolv
-
Computer literate (MS Office)
-
Sound numerical skills
-
Strong command of English and a second language

Willing and able to work retail hours
Advantageous

Knowledge of retail or FMCG operations

Proficiency in a third language

Experience with SAP and E-Scripting systems

Knowledge of drugs, family planning, and complementary medicine
Duties and Responsibilities
-
Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines and scheduled substances
-
Support the compounding, preparation, and manipulation of non-sterile medicines in line with approved SOPs
-
Assist with the manufacturing and re-packaging of non-sterile medicines
-
Support the distribution, control, and ordering of medicines and scheduled substances as authorised
-
Assist with prescription preparation, including selection, compounding, labelling, and supply following pharmacist evaluation
-
Interpret scripts accurately and act in accordance with SAPC regulations and legal requirements
-
Capture script and patient details accurately on the system
-
Ensure correct picking, packing, labelling, and checking of medication, with awareness of dosages and drug interactions
-
Provide clear and accurate instructions to patients on the correct use of medicines
-
Remain up to date with medical aid procedures and dispensing requirements
-
Ensure all medication is checked and signed off by a pharmacist
-
Advise and assist customers at the dispensary, self-medication area, and front shop
-
Follow up on script tracking reports and patient appointments as requested
-
Explain medical aid costs to patients in a clear and professional manner
-
Promote health by providing accurate and relevant information to customers

Process medical aid claims and correct rejected scripts

Ensure authorisation of chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medication
-
Maintain, update, and manage customer profiles, including profile merging where required
-
Report low or out-of-stock levels and stock discrepancies to the dispensary manager

Receive and merchandise dispensary stock in line with SOPs and FEFO principles

Participate in bi-annual stock takes

Exercise effective control over stock, cash, and assets
