About the Role:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a skilled Dispensary Manager to lead their Thatchfield store dispensary. This role involves managing and supervising the dispensary, including self-medication areas and staff, while ensuring the provision of high-quality pharmaceutical care. You will be responsible for meeting patients’ needs and maintaining accountability for all dispensary operations.
Minimum Requirements:
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- BPharm or equivalent qualification
- Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
- Registered tutor
- Experience with Unisolv
- Supervisory experience
- Computer literate (MS Office)
- Strong numerical skills
- Proficiency in English and a second language
- Willingness to work retail hours
Advantageous:
- Management experience with at least 7 staff members
- Retail or FMCG experience
- Knowledge of a third additional language
- SAP experience
- E-scripting experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure dispensary and self-medication areas are properly staffed and that all staff operate within their scope of practice
- Maintain adherence to Good Pharmacy Practice rules and regulations
- Monitor and manage stock to prevent expired or short-dated items; ensure proper disposal of expired stock
- Investigate and manage negative stock daily
- Prepare and maintain stock for stocktake and follow stock ordering procedures for purchasing compliance
- Maintain stock levels and secure Schedule 6 medications with accurate quarterly register maintenance
- Keep SAPC registration and annual fees current
- Interpret prescriptions accurately and professionally, following legal and SAPC requirements
- Capture and verify script and patient details on the system
- Ensure accurate picking, packing, labeling, and checking of medications, with awareness of common dosages and drug interactions
- Provide patients with clear instructions for correct medication use
- Stay updated on medical aid procedures, claim requirements, and process paperwork for accurate claims submission
- Authorize chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medications
- Maintain customer profiles, merge locally, and notify UCS for central merges
- Act on any messages within customer profiles appropriately
- Train and supervise Dispensary Admin Assistants to manage dispensary administration effectively
