Forklift Technician

Purpose of the Job
The Forklift Technician is responsible for performing mechanical repairs, assembling and stripping components, cleaning parts, and maintaining a safe and organised workstation. This role ensures that forklifts and related equipment are serviced and repaired to OE standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect forklifts for defects and assess repair requirements
• Compile technical reports outlining repair scope and spare parts needed
• Strip, clean, and assess vehicle components for wear and damage
• Assemble components using new and reused parts as required
• Identify system failures, consult with team leaders, and document findings on job cards
• Record all tasks performed, spare parts used, and time taken on job cards
• Service and repair forklifts according to OE specifications and schedules
• Perform standby or breakdown duty as required
• Maintain high productivity and efficiency levels
• Guide, train, and monitor repair shop assistants and semi-skilled artisans
• Report unsafe working conditions or equipment to team leaders
• Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Assist with relevant operational functions as required
• Maintain professional conduct and compliance with dress code SOPs
• Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained daily
• Uphold Health and Safety standards at all times

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Red Seal Qualification
• 2+ years of relevant mechanical experience advantageous
