Dispatch Supervisor – Value Logistics
Purpose of the Role
The Dispatch Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all dispatch and outbound logistics activities related to stock movement within the warehouse. This role ensures the accurate, secure, and timely dispatch of goods in line with operational deadlines, company procedures, and safety regulations. The position involves supervising dispatch teams, monitoring KPIs, safeguarding assets, and driving continuous improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Dispatch Operations & Process Control

Ensure all dispatch SOPs are clearly understood, regularly trained on, and consistently applied

Utilise business systems effectively to manage, track, and control dispatch processes

Plan and execute daily outbound dispatch schedules to meet operational deadlines
-
Align staffing resources with forecasted volumes to ensure optimal productivity
-
Coordinate picking and dispatch activities to meet delivery timelines
-
Confirm availability and readiness of equipment, vehicles, and dispatch materials
-
Ensure stock integrity, correct packaging, and adherence to product handling requirements
-
Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to documentation, vehicles, seals, or dispatched stock
-
Liaise with internal stakeholders to resolve dispatch-related issues within agreed timelines

Coordinate vehicle scheduling to ensure on-time departures
-
Manage the handover of stock to relevant departments in line with system requirements
-
Ensure correct loading practices and securement of goods prior to vehicle departure
-
Update and maintain the daily Work in Progress (WIP) report

Maintain accurate, complete, and compliant dispatch documentation and records
-
Monitor dispatch reports, analyse performance data, and implement corrective actions

Identify improvement opportunities and implement process enhancements
Staff Management & Leadership
-
Lead, supervise, and motivate dispatch staff to achieve operational targets

Conduct effective workforce planning to meet daily dispatch demands
-
Monitor and control overtime, authorising only when operationally required
-
Ensure all dispatch staff receive appropriate training and competency development
Quality, Health & Safety, and KPI Management
-
Communicate, track, and report dispatch KPIs on a monthly basis
-
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within dispatch operations
-
Proactively identify and mitigate risks and operational challenges
-
Ensure full compliance with Quality Management System requirements
-
Manage Non-Conformance Reports, Non-Conformance Procedures, and Improvement Opportunities, ensuring timely closure
-
Monitor and maintain QMS objectives and performance targets
-
Enforce Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements and complete all scheduled safety checks
-
Maintain high standards of housekeeping, cleanliness, and order within the dispatch area
MHE & Asset Management

Ensure the security of the facility, stock, and assets in line with Loss Control policies
-
Monitor, maintain, and track warehouse assets to ensure effective utilisation
-
Ensure responsible and efficient use of all Material Handling Equipment
Minimum Requirements
-
Grade 12 (Matric)
-
Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Warehouse Management, or Business Management (advantageous)
-
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the logistics or warehouse environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role

Working knowledge of warehouse and business systems including WMS and related platforms
