Sasol is seeking a skilled and experienced Chief Foreman to join its Mining division in Secunda, Mpumalanga. Purpose of the Role
The Chief Foreman will oversee engineering and maintenance activities within a designated area, ensuring alignment with quality, cost, delivery, safety, and morale (QCDSM) principles. This role is critical in maintaining equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and compliance with engineering standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage daily maintenance strategies to meet departmental KPIs.

  • Optimize maintenance budgets and control costs related to repair and replacement of equipment.

  • Improve equipment availability by minimizing downtime and ensuring effective use of shift resources.

  • Ensure compliance with engineering SOPs, legislation, and internal governance standards.

  • Lead operational projects and enforce engineering best practices.

  • Conduct root cause analyses and manage condition monitoring programs.

  • Align planning efforts with departmental targets and predictive maintenance initiatives.

  • Monitor and enhance safety performance in line with Sasol’s zero harm philosophy.

  • Oversee staff recruitment, development, coaching, and succession planning.

  • Maintain workforce efficiency and engagement by tracking turnover, absenteeism, and performance.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 / N3 with Mathematics, Physical Science, and English or a University Diploma

  • Trade Certificate in Millwright

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in a Foreman role
