Dischem Vacancies – Cashier

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking an experienced Cashier to join our team at the Fountain Est store in Jeffrey’s Bay. As a Cashier, you will support customer service at the point of sale, ensuring a world-class shopping experience. You will also be responsible for accurately recording customer transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system, adhering to company policies, and minimizing the risk of fraud.

Minimum Requirements:

• Essential:
  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • At least 6 months of cashier/till operations experience
  • Computer literate (MS Office)
  • Sound numerical skills
  • Strong command of the English language
  • Basic customer service skills
  • Willing and able to work retail hours
• Advantageous:
  • Knowledge of additional languages

Job Responsibilities:

• Adhere to Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures.
• Establish professional relationships with customers and report customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management.
• Be aware of current sales and promotions, ensuring customers are informed.
• Ensure colleagues and customers are not exposed to any risk.
• Manage cash flow, ensuring proper handling and security of cash inside the till.
• Process all transactions, including cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons, and other forms of payment.
• Ensure all line voids and price changes are approved and signed off by the supervisor.
• Process all loyalty cards, including those from our accelerator partners.
• Ensure outgoing stock/items/scripts are scanned and paid for.
• Report suspicious behavior to management and adhere to Dis-Chem’s security policies.
• Address customer queries regarding store merchandise.
• Handle daily takings confidentially and only discuss with management.

Competencies:

• Essential:
  • In-depth knowledge of operating cash registers and maintaining cash drawers.
  • Knowledge of processing sales, refunds, and payments.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Presentable with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and accountability.
  • Ability to analyze basic reports.
  • Trustworthy and honest.
  • Good time management skills.
• Advantageous:
  • Knowledge of a third additional language.

• Willing and able to work retail hours.
• Reliable transport or residence in close proximity to the store.
• South African citizenship.
