Brand Manager – OK Franchise (Shoprite Holdings)
Job Objectives
Brand Strategy & Development
- Develop, implement, and manage the annual brand strategy for OK Franchise in alignment with national marketing goals.
- Shape brand positioning, architecture, and visual identity across all customer-facing platforms.
- Support the launch of new business ventures and store formats by developing brand strategy, naming, and positioning frameworks.
- Ensure the brand remains relevant and differentiated through continuous innovation and market responsiveness.
- Translate strategic business goals into integrated marketing communication plans.
Marketing Campaign Management
- Lead the development and rollout of 360° marketing campaigns across ATL, BTL, digital, social media, and in-store channels.
- Ensure promotional campaigns drive traffic, increase basket size, and build customer loyalty.
- Partner with internal stakeholders, creative agencies, production teams, and media buyers for timely, budget-efficient execution.
- Develop seasonal promotional calendars and coordinate execution across all touchpoints.
- Oversee integration of the Count On! Card loyalty program into key campaigns and customer journeys.
Digital & Social Media Leadership
- Oversee social media strategy to ensure a cohesive digital brand presence aligned with campaign priorities.
- Monitor performance and optimize content and media mix for maximum engagement.
- Guide content creation, paid media management, and influencer engagement.
- Ensure digital platforms support promotional goals and franchisee participation.
Market & Customer Insight
- Analyze customer and market research to guide campaign messaging and targeting.
- Stay updated on shopper trends, regional differences, and customer preferences across franchise formats.
- Monitor competitive activity and retail innovations to keep OK Franchise ahead of the curve.
Stakeholder & Franchisee Engagement
- Build strong franchisee relationships, offering tools for local campaign execution.
- Partner with Buying, Operations, PR/CSI, and Finance teams for aligned performance tracking.
- Collaborate with creative teams and agencies to deliver high-impact branding materials.
- Champion brand consistency, customer focus, and marketing innovation.
Budget & Performance Management
- Manage OK Franchise’s end-to-end marketing budget, including planning, tracking, and reporting.
- Optimize funds across channels with a focus on ROI and cost-effectiveness.
- Provide monthly reports and measure campaign effectiveness using sales and post-campaign data.
Team & People Leadership
- Lead and mentor team members, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Drive the marketing team’s contribution to learning, development, and engagement.
- Model proactive leadership in line with Shoprite Group values.
Qualifications
- Degree in Marketing, Brand Management, Communications, or related field (essential).
- Postgraduate Degree (preferred).
Experience
- 5+ years in brand or marketing management within retail, FMCG, or franchising (essential).
- Proven success in integrated campaign execution and complex project delivery.
- Experience managing external agencies and cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with diverse African markets (advantageous).
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong analytical, communication, and creative thinking skills (essential).
- Deep understanding of consumer behavior and leadership of multi-disciplinary teams.
- Ability to build relationships with executive stakeholders.
