About the Role:
The A/C Performance Systems Specialist is responsible for managing and optimising flight planning and navigation systems to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant aircraft operations. This role involves preparing operational flight plans, monitoring post-flight performance data, supporting fuel efficiency initiatives, and providing technical guidance to Flight Operations staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and validate operational flight plans (navigation logs) using approved flight planning systems.
  • Capture and maintain accurate records of all aircraft movements within the flight planning system.
  • Assess route feasibility to ensure compliance with regulatory authorities, ICAO standards, and company policies.
  • Monitor post-flight statistical data, identifying deviations, inefficiencies, or safety concerns.
  • Configure and maintain flight planning software, including applications for Flight Crew iPads.
  • Evaluate and update fuel tankering requirements based on prices, uplift limits, and operational factors.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities, foreign civil aviation bodies, and airport service providers to ensure compliance with statutory and operational requirements.
  • Coordinate with navigation data suppliers to ensure accurate, timely, and complete data.
  • Report non-compliance and implement corrective actions to align with SACAA and ICAO standards.
  • Monitor and coordinate navigation training courses for Flight Operations staff in line with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer and provide ongoing support to flight crew and operations staff on navigation and flight planning tools.
  • Analyse stakeholder needs and identify opportunities for process and system improvement.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships across departments and with external service providers.
  • Implement remedial actions when service levels or stakeholder expectations are not met.
  • Manage fair utilisation and coordination of shared navigation services between airlines.
  • Support reliable and cost-effective fuel supply by liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the Safety Management System by identifying risks, reporting hazards, and applying corrective and preventative actions.
  • Analyse operational performance data to identify trends, cost drivers, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support system optimisation and innovation projects to implement new technologies and processes effectively.
  • Participate in fuel savings and efficiency projects aligned with operational and sustainability goals.
  • Maintain accurate reporting records for audit readiness and compile operational reports on flight planning, delays, and performance data.
  • Generate compliance and performance dashboards to track adherence to SACAA regulations and company standards.
  • Track fuel uplift, consumption, and trends, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and sustainability.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Flight Operations Officer course (essential).
  • Train the Trainer qualification (essential).
  • Relevant Degree or Diploma (advantageous).
  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant aviation experience.
  • Experience in aviation fuel management support functions (essential).
  • Experience with Jeppesen software (advantageous).
  • Experience with Operations Control Systems (OCS) (advantageous).
  • Previous aviation industry experience (beneficial).
  • Willingness to work overtime.
