Job Summary
A leading financial regulatory body is seeking a Market Risk Manager to lead a team of experts responsible for supervising insurance, financial market infrastructures (FMIs), and cross-sectoral financial institutions. This is a pivotal opportunity to shape policy, drive supervisory excellence, and enhance financial stability in a dynamic market landscape.
Key Focus Areas
- Provide strategic leadership in market and counterparty credit risk supervision across diverse financial sectors.
- Design, refine, and implement regulatory frameworks, supervision methodologies, and risk models tailored to sector-specific needs.
- Collaborate with internal supervision teams, policy units, and external stakeholders to address complex market challenges.
- Lead cross-sectoral projects, including margin requirements, derivatives oversight, and investment risk assessment.
- Mentor, inspire, and develop a high-performing team of Market Risk Specialists.
Your Background Should Include
- Postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 8 or higher) in Finance, Economics, Financial Engineering, Mathematics, Insurance, or a related field.
- 8–10 years of experience in financial services or regulation, specializing in market risk, investment risk, or counterparty credit risk.
- Minimum of 2 years in a leadership or technical team management role.
- Strong technical expertise in insurance and FMI regulations, derivatives, risk modeling, and supervisory frameworks (SAM, IOSCO, IAIS, FMA).
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and leadership capabilities.
Desirable Extras
- Professional certifications such as FRM, CFA, CQF, or MBA.
- Hands-on experience in model validation, market risk analytics, and quantitative supervisory tools.
- Proven track record of regulatory innovation and stakeholder engagement in complex environments.
