Fleet Controller – Value Logistics
Purpose of the Job
The Fleet Controller at Value Logistics ensures the fleet is maintained in line with company policies and Road Traffic Legislation, guaranteeing serviceability and availability for operational demands.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Maintain electronic databases for KM tracking, registration, inspections, and fleet maintenance.
- Schedule vehicle services with the workshop.
- Ensure fleet availability by forecasting demand and analyzing usage trends.
- Handle accident documentation and liaise with the internal insurance department.
- Oversee routine and ad-hoc maintenance, including vehicle licensing.
- Ensure compliance with Road Traffic Acts and regulations.
- Monitor fuel consumption and reconcile Fuel Card expenses.
- Implement industry best practices for fleet management.
- Manage R&M costs, verify job cards, and ensure accurate pricing.
- Conduct ACC meetings with drivers for accident investigations.
- Recover abuse costs and conduct in/out vehicle inspections.
- Maintain vehicle inspection books per SOP.
Maintenance
- Keep vehicles roadworthy by adhering to service intervals.
- Minimize downtime through strict servicing schedules and priority repairs.
- Maximize fleet availability for transport operations.
Reports and Record Keeping
- Track weekly kilometers and maintain vehicle/trailer asset registers.
- Generate reports on fuel consumption, fleet utilization, and driver training.
- Monitor driver licenses, COF, and fleet inspections.
- Maintain key registers and verify daily debriefing logs.
Driver Management
- Manage and report on driver behaviour affecting fuel and maintenance costs.
- Update driver scorecards for speeding, harsh braking, and erratic driving.
Additional Duties

- Assist in other departments or shifts during staff shortages.
- Support Truck Rental & Express operations when needed.
- Stand in for absent site supervisors.
- Perform other reasonable tasks aligned with company objectives.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12).
- Code 10 driver’s license.
- 2–3 years’ experience in Truck Rental and administration.
Skills Required
- Administrative proficiency and form completion.
- Hazard identification and problem-solving.
- Microsoft Office Suite skills.
- Strong planning and organizational abilities.
- Customer service and report writing expertise.
- Decision-making and document handling skills.
