Underwriting Administrator

Pronel Recruitment is assisting a client in the short-term insurance sector to find a meticulous and proactive Underwriting Administrator. This role is perfect for a detail-oriented professional with strong administrative abilities, systems proficiency, and a keen interest in building a career in insurance. The position offers training opportunities for the right candidate, making it ideal for junior or mid-level applicants with relevant administrative experience and some exposure to short-term insurance. Industry experience is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide efficient administrative support to the underwriting team.
  • Assist in preparing and processing policy documents, renewals, and endorsements.
  • Accurately capture and maintain client and policy details on internal systems.
  • Communicate with brokers, clients, and insurers to obtain necessary documentation or follow up on pending items.
  • Ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines and company procedures.
  • Maintain organised records and manage electronic filing systems.
  • Handle queries and facilitate smooth communication between internal departments.

Requirements:

  • Matric (Grade 12) qualification is essential.
  • A relevant short-term insurance qualification (e.g., RE 5, FAIS credits, NQF Level 4 in Short-Term Insurance) is highly advantageous.
  • Previous administrative experience in a professional setting.
  • Exposure to or experience in short-term insurance is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with insurance systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow.
