Job Description
The Forklift Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently operating and maintaining the forklift. This role also ensures excellent customer service, stock merchandising, shelf price labeling, and proper housekeeping within the designated area of responsibility.
Requirements

Grade 12 or a minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience.

Ability to communicate in English and the dominant language spoken in the geographical area.

Strong ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
-
Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
-
Ability to work under pressure.
-
Physically fit to operate a forklift.
-
Valid forklift license.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
-
Greet and acknowledge customers, identifying their needs.
-
Advise customers accurately on products and services.
-
Assist with any product queries and handle customer complaints in a timely manner.
-
Drive additional sales (e.g., upsell related products such as paint, brushes, thinners, etc.).
-
Ensure customers’ purchases are loaded quickly and carefully without delays or damage to goods or vehicles.
-
Provide information on additional services such as delivery, glass cutting, credit programs, special orders, and VIC Customer Program.

Stay available in your designated aisle to assist customers.

Maintain certification in product knowledge.
Merchandising Standards
-
Ensure bulk stock areas are safely merchandised according to store layout and planograms.

Ensure that all products in your area are correctly merchandised and well-organized.
Housekeeping
-
Maintain a clean and safe area, ensuring that stock is immediately merchandised upon receipt.

Ensure customers can safely access your aisle without obstacles.
-
Make sure all shelves are accurately labeled with prices.
-
Complete required checklists for canteen, toilet, and shower schedules.
Ready for Business
-
Follow the “Ready for Business” and “Beyond My Control” standards as outlined in the CB Way.
Loss Prevention and Security
-
Identify gaps in displays and investigate their causes, reporting any concerns to management.

Be vigilant for suspicious behavior and report concerns to management.

Ensure that no products are loaded without proper proof of purchase or necessary documentation.
Safety (OHSA) Requirements

Never overload the forklift or racking systems.
-
Ensure safety measures such as wearing a safety helmet and kidney belt while operating the forklift.

Do not use the forklift to lift personnel.
-
Keep store entrances and exits clear of obstacles to ensure safe customer movement.

Report any forklift faults immediately and ensure timely servicing.

Wear protective clothing when required.
-
Perform daily forklift inspections and complete the checklist, reporting any faults.
