About the Program
Rand Water is seeking a dedicated Retirement Benefit Counsellor to support the long-term financial well-being of fund members. The successful candidate will deliver retirement benefit counselling fully aligned with the Pension Fund Act, Default Regulations, FSCA Conduct Standard 19 of 2021 (RF), and industry best practices. This role involves educating and guiding members on investment options, membership classes, costs, and tax implications while upholding Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles.
Minimum Requirements
- National Senior Certificate with Mathematics
- Postgraduate qualification in employee benefits or retirement fund legislation
- Certificate or Diploma in Retirement Fund Administration or equivalent
- FSCA Trustee Toolkit Phase 1 & 2 certification
- Strong legislative knowledge of PFA/FSCA requirements
- Minimum 4 years of experience in the retirement industry
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Valid driver’s license
- Proficient in English, Zulu, and Sotho
Primary Duties
- Perform fiduciary duties as a registered Administrator under the Pension Fund Act and Fund Rules
- Ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements with service providers
- Conduct inductions for new entrants
- Assist members with the EB web system
- Organize and facilitate investment roadshows, education, and information sessions
- Provide member education and management reporting
Knowledge
- Employee Benefits Administration
- Management and Board of Trustee reporting
- Membership engagement through benefit counselling and investment roadshows
- Default regulations
- Defined Contribution (DC) funds, FAIS, and related regulations
- PFA, Fund Rules interpretation, Income Tax Act, Divorce Act, and Long-term Insurance Act
- Retail annuity products
Skills
- Effective administration of employee benefits for a 13B license holder
- Report writing and clear communication with members
- Relationship-building with fund members
- Staying updated on industry regulations
- Attention to detail, punctuality, and reliability
- Continuous learning, training, and upskilling
- Ability to explain annuities, investment, and membership classes to members
