Job Description
Spar Vacancies is seeking a skilled Technical Data Developer to support data migration, cleansing, analysis, and system management initiatives. The role focuses on ensuring accurate, complete, and reliable data to support business operations, reporting, and decision-making. The Technical Data Developer will work closely with business users, analysts, and technical teams to maintain data quality and system functionality.
Key Performance Areas
Data Migration Support
• Assist with source-to-target mapping of fields and data, ensuring extracts meet specifications
• Support business users in reviewing and troubleshooting data errors
• Review reports and highlight issues for correction
Data Cleansing and Reconciliation
• Monitor, process, and maintain all data cleansing requests
• Assist Business Analysts with troubleshooting data issues and resolving according to business rules and standards
• Support extraction of data reports and dashboards
• Reconcile data to source systems and escalate unresolved issues to the Data Manager
• Participate in user acceptance testing where applicable
Data Extracts Analysis and Development
• Develop proficiency in SAP DS and SQL to create data extracts according to defined criteria within an SDLC framework
• Review data extracts for accuracy and completeness
• Maintain, manage, and update technical system documentation
System Support and Monitoring
• Recommend modifications and enhancements to existing applications to improve functionality
• Setup batch schedules and monitor jobs for failures
Data Governance
• Contribute to the data governance framework, standards, and business rules
• Ensure master data meets quality standards for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and integrity
• Detect and correct data inaccuracies promptly with business input
Other Duties
• Perform any ad hoc tasks as required by management
Minimum Requirements
• Matric certificate
• Relevant tertiary qualification in IT, Information Systems, or a related field
• At least 5 years’ experience in the full Systems Development Life Cycle or similar data analytics environment
• Demonstrated experience in data migration projects
• Proficiency in SAP DS and SQL
