Job Description
The General Assistant is responsible for delivering excellent Customer Service, merchandising stock, ensuring accurate shelf price labelling, and maintaining a clean and safe store environment within the assigned area of responsibility.
Requirements
- Minimum Grade 10 or NQF 3 with 1 year relevant work experience, or Grade 12 without work experience
- Ability to communicate in English and the dominant local language
- Valid South African ID or work permit
- Ability to perform basic calculations accurately
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
- Ability to work under pressure
Key Performance Areas
Customer Service
- Advise and assist Customers on products and queries
- Resolve Customer complaints professionally
Merchandising Standards
- Merchandize bulk stock safely according to Store layout plans
- Ensure all areas of responsibility are fully merchandised in line with planograms
Housekeeping
- Maintain a tidy area free of obstacles
- Merchandize stock immediately upon receipt
- Ensure aisles are safe and accessible for Customers
- Apply correct shelf price labelling within assigned area
- Complete checklists for canteen, toilet, and shower schedules as required
Safety (OHSA) Requirements
- Comply with OHSA safety standards, including the use of safety gear
- Ensure stock is safely merchandised to allow safe movement for Customers and colleagues
- Report any safety discrepancies to the Store Manager
Stock Loss Management
- Report damaged stock within area of responsibility to the Store Manager
