The ideal candidate will possess a sharp business acumen and a proven track record in managing multiple departments for peak productivity. Strong expertise in human resources, finance, logistics, and warehouse management is essential, along with the ability to foster a culture of trust, diversity, and inclusion within our Johannesburg branch to drive growth and profitability.

Finance and Business Management

  • Manage operational budgeting, with strong emphasis on cost control.
  • Approve expenditures within delegated authority.
  • Contribute to operational budget planning (resources, equipment, labour, consumables, etc.).
  • Participate in monthly billing and invoice approval.
  • Oversee insurance claims management.
  • Handle HR functions (recruitment, EE compliance, disciplinary actions, training, career development).
  • Deliver comprehensive management reporting.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate governance standards.

Operational & Technical Management

  • Review and approve SOPs for warehouse, project, and client management.
  • Drive continuous improvement of service offerings.
  • Enforce health and safety compliance, client requirements, and staff adherence.

Human Resources

  • Conduct performance appraisals for direct reports.
  • Manage absenteeism, overtime, and access control.
  • Uphold company IR policies and chair disciplinary hearings as needed.
  • Address training needs via the workplace skills plan.
  • Ensure timely updates on notice boards.
  • Motivate staff and organise team functions.
  • Develop employee growth plans and encourage professional development.
  • Identify and retain high-performing talent.

Risk Management

  • Maintain legal compliance across operations.
  • Conduct daily facility walk-throughs to ensure adherence.
  • Hold daily operational meetings with department heads.
  • Review and sign off on stock/cycle count reports, addressing variances.
  • Strengthen supplier relationships through regular engagement.
  • Implement and monitor supplier SLAs monthly.
  • Chair monthly safety meetings as required.
  • Optimise departmental performance.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing (forklifts, fire marshals, etc.).
  • Lead incident response (spills, injuries) and emergency drills.
  • Ensure prompt incident reporting and investigation.
  • Prepare for audits (ISO, SHERQ, DEL, customer).

Skills

  • Operations/Staff/General/Divisional Management.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Sales, warehouse, and financial expertise.
  • Project costing and management.
  • Root cause analysis and report writing.

  • Budgeting and forecasting experience.
  • Understanding of business and financial principles.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Inventory and staff management expertise.
  • Leadership capabilities.
  • Familiarity with Syspro and Pastel (advantageous).
  • Valid, unendorsed driver’s license.
