RPO Recruitment is seeking a skilled Refrigeration Engineer with extensive experience in ammonia refrigeration plant engineering to join a leading commercial company. This role offers the opportunity to lead and manage a refrigeration department, ensuring optimal plant performance and safety. Responsibilities:
- Maintain refrigeration equipment and peripherals to achieve >97% plant availability.
- Manage critical hardware stock levels to minimize downtime.
- Upgrade and optimize existing hardware installations for enhanced reliability.
- Execute scheduled maintenance and update maintenance logs weekly.
- Maximize plant efficiency and compliance with manufacturer service schedules.
- Maintain a strategic inventory of critical spares, considering cost and downtime impact.
- Ensure full compliance with Food Safety and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
- Enforce safety protocols, including Lock Out Tag Out (LOTTO) and permit systems.
- Draft project scopes, secure supplier quotes, and oversee order fulfillment.
- Train, mentor, and develop team members through daily feedback sessions.
- Oversee HR activities to maintain adequate staffing levels.
- Lead the refrigeration team with guidance, supervision, and discipline.
- Develop and manage the refrigeration department budget.
- Minimize utility costs (water, electricity, effluent, waste disposal).
Requirements:
- Degree in Refrigeration, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- 10+ years of hands-on ammonia refrigeration plant experience.
- 5+ years managing large-scale refrigeration plants in FMGC.
- Category C Ammonia safe handling certification (essential).
- Proven leadership, project management, and analytical skills.
- Proficient in computer systems and technical software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
