Role Overview
As Kuda’s Data Science Manager, you’ll lead a high-performing team of data scientists to build and deploy machine learning models that drive impact across credit scoring, fraud detection, and collections. Your work will directly power real-time decisioning systems embedded in our products, enabling Kuda to serve customers faster and smarter.

You’ll collaborate across product, engineering, and business teams to align data-driven solutions with strategic goals. A focus on continuous learning will keep your team at the forefront of industry advancements, ensuring our models deliver scalable, compliant, and cutting-edge results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Mentor and grow a team of data scientists, fostering innovation and collaboration.
  • Model Development: Design, build, and deploy ML models for credit risk, fraud prevention, and collections.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with product, engineering, and compliance teams to integrate models into live systems.
  • Data Insights: Analyze complex datasets to uncover trends and drive actionable business strategies.
  • Performance Monitoring: Ensure deployed models meet accuracy, regulatory, and business performance standards.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Present insights and recommendations to senior leadership with clarity and impact.
  • Industry Innovation: Stay ahead of emerging technologies and methodologies in data science and fintech.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field.
  • 6+ years in data science, with 2+ years leading teams in a managerial role.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in Python, SQL, and ML libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch). Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) experience preferred.
  • Domain Knowledge: Experience in credit risk modeling, fraud detection, or financial services is a strong plus.
  • Leadership: Ability to manage projects, inspire teams, and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Regulatory Awareness: Familiarity with financial regulations, especially in the Nigerian market.
